Samarinda – PT Insani Baraperkasa (IBP), a subsidiary of PT Resource Alam Indonesia Tbk (KKGI), reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by organizing a community health outreach program in Desa Tani Bhakti, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.
The initiative, held in conjunction with Indonesia’s National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month 2026, included free medical check-ups and treatment, blood donation activities, and tuberculosis (TB) prevention awareness campaigns. The event was met with strong enthusiasm from local residents.
Strong Community Participation and Management Involvement
This year’s outreach recorded a significant increase in community participation compared with previous years. Hundreds of residents attended the event to access free healthcare services provided in collaboration with the Loa Janan Community Health Center and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).
Mohamad Nilzam, External Manager of PT IBP, said the surge in attendance reflects the tangible benefits of the program for communities surrounding the company’s operational area.
“The number of residents attending was significantly higher, demonstrating that the program is delivering real benefits,” he said.
IBP’s management team also took part directly in the initiative. Several department heads, including HSE Manager Radinal and Exploration Manager Hidayat Adi Putra, participated in the blood donation drive. The involvement underscores the company’s position as a strategic partner to local communities and aligns with good corporate governance principles in the mining sector.
Recognition from Local Authorities and Health Institutions
Head of Desa Tani Bhakti, Muhammad Amin, expressed appreciation for IBP’s initiative. He said the program not only provided direct healthcare services but also enhanced public awareness of communicable diseases such as tuberculosis.
“The synergy between the company, the village administration, and the local health center has had a positive impact on the community’s quality of life,” he said.
Rusliansyah Efendi, Head of the Loa Janan Community Health Center, also commended IBP’s consistent CSR contributions. He noted that previous assistance, including the construction of the Mawar community health post complete with facilities and infrastructure, has been optimally utilized, particularly for the “Posyandu Sehat dan Gembira” (Pos Seger) program.
The initiative achieved a 100% toddler visitation rate through innovations such as monthly birthday celebrations. In addition, IBP contributed to the construction of clean water bore wells serving 60 households in RT 07 and RT 11 in 2024, addressing water shortages during the dry season in collaboration with PT Arta Bumi Sakti.
Long-Term Commitment Amid Mining Industry Challenges
As part of the RAIN Tbk group, IBP continues to strengthen its CSR programs across healthcare, environmental management, and infrastructure development. The community outreach initiative forms part of the company’s regular agenda aligned with National K3 regulations and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3) on good health and well-being.
Amid ongoing scrutiny of environmental practices in the mining industry, initiatives such as these demonstrate how extractive companies can contribute positively to regional development.
Desa Tani Bhakti, located near IBP’s operational area, has benefited from various CSR programs, including health facilities, clean water infrastructure, and disaster response assistance during floods and landslides. The company has also collaborated with the East Kalimantan Environmental Agency to distribute ready-to-eat meals during emergencies.
These efforts not only improve community welfare but also strengthen harmonious relations between the company and local stakeholders.
Economic and Social Impact
IBP’s CSR initiatives in Desa Tani Bhakti contribute to the local economy by generating indirect employment opportunities and improving access to essential services. Enhanced healthcare access supports higher community productivity, contributing to social stability in Kutai Kartanegara—one of East Kalimantan’s key coal-producing regions.
Looking ahead, IBP aims to sustain and expand this synergy, including potential programs such as community occupational safety education and skills training. Beyond fulfilling CSR obligations, these initiatives reinforce IBP’s positioning as a sustainable mining operator in both domestic and export markets.
