PT Insani Baraperkasa (IBP) commemorated the 2026 Environment Day under the theme “Act Now for Climate,” underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the strengthening of sustainable mining practices. During the event, PT Insani Baraperkasa Chief Mining Engineer Ir Saprianto ST, SH, MM, IPM, ASEAN Eng, emphasized that protecting the planet must go beyond ceremonial observance and be translated into concrete, sustained action.
In his remarks at the event held on June 5, 2026, Saprianto said the world is now facing a triple planetary crisis: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. He noted that this situation calls for tangible responses from all stakeholders, including the industrial sector, so that economic development remains aligned with environmental conservation.
As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia is also highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. More than 60 percent of the population lives in coastal areas exposed to sea-level rise, extreme weather, and food security risks, while more than 90 percent of disasters in Indonesia are hydrometeorological in nature, such as floods, landslides, and droughts.
IBP’s Environmental Commitment
Through the 2026 Environment Day commemoration, IBP promoted a number of practical measures, ranging from reducing single-use plastics and fostering a clean and sustainable lifestyle to strengthening the circular economy through waste management and large-scale tree planting to support climate resilience and ecosystem restoration.
The company said sound environmental management is a shared responsibility. For that reason, IBP stressed the importance of implementing the 3R principles — reduce, reuse, recycle — alongside safe waste handling, protection of green areas, and the restoration of mining-affected land so it can once again provide ecological value to surrounding communities.
It was also stated that IBP has reclaimed mine-out areas into forested land, including the development of a biodiversity conservation forest, as part of its ecosystem restoration efforts. The step demonstrates that former mining land can be rehabilitated and returned to productive environmental function.
Joint Tree Planting
Following the remarks, the event continued with a joint tree-planting activity on a mine-out area. The initiative symbolized collaboration between the company, contractors, and stakeholders in maintaining the continuity of reclamation programs and reinforcing commitment to post-mining land greening.
The ceremony was attended by PT Insani Baraperkasa, PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama, PT Arta Bumi Sakti, PT Multindo Ada Jaya Usaha, PT Tata Alam Kalimantan Abadi, PT Barana Medayu Sejahtera, PT Singosari Jaya, PT Adarton Indo Pasific, PT Berkat Borneo Sejahtera, and PT Ecositrop. Their presence highlighted the importance of cross-entity synergy in promoting more environmentally responsible operations.
The tree-planting activity also served as a reminder that ecosystem recovery requires long-term action. It does not stop at physical reclamation, but must include maintenance, monitoring, and program continuity so that former mining areas can truly evolve into productive green spaces with ecological functions.

IBP believes today’s environmental challenges require commitment, discipline, and broad participation. The government, businesses, and communities must work together to make environmental awareness a new culture, rather than a temporary campaign.
