PLTM Cicatih Breaks Electricity Production Record in January 2026

Business
PLTM Cicatih Milik PT Resource Alam Indonesia Tbk mencatatkan produksinya tertinggi semenjak beroperasi secara komersial di tahun 2019.

The Cicatih Mini Hydro Power Plant (PLTM Cicatih) achieved an outstanding milestone at the start of 2026. According to the latest operational data, electricity production at PLTM Cicatih in January 2026 reached 3,722,900 kWh, marking the highest monthly output since the plant received its Commercial Operation Date (COD) approval from PT PLN (Persero) in October 2019.

This achievement surpasses the previous highest monthly average from 2025, which was around 3,139,917 kWh. January 2026 production rose by about 8.3% compared to January 2025’s 3,437,460 kWh. When compared to January 2024 at 3,161,810 kWh, it grew 17.75% year-on-year, and up 11.60% year-on-year from January 2023’s 3,356,210 kWh. This January 2026 output also shows PLTM Cicatih operating at higher capacity utilization, thanks to operational improvements and favorable hydrology conditions along the Cicatih River in Sukabumi, West Java.

Improving Operational Reliability

PLTM Cicatih has an installed capacity of 2 x 3.2 megawatts (MW) and is managed by PT Bias Petrasia Persada, a subsidiary of PT Khatulistiwa Hidro Energi, which is part of PT Resource Alam Indonesia Tbk’s renewable energy portfolio (stock code: KKGI). Since starting commercial operations in 2019, the plant has steadily enhanced its reliability and efficiency through regular maintenance programs and adjustments to river flow patterns.

“The record monthly production in January 2026 proves that PLTM Cicatih can operate consistently and reliably,” explained Sumarwoto, General Manager of PT Bias Petrasia Persada, representing management. “We view this achievement as part of our commitment to maximize green energy contributions to the national grid.”

Contribution to Green Energy Transition

Electricity from PLTM Cicatih is supplied to PT PLN (Persero) through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), making it part of the renewable energy mix in Java-Bali. Relying on the Cicatih River flow, PLTM Cicatih helps reduce dependence on fossil fuel plants and lowers greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector. PT Resource Alam Indonesia Tbk (KKGI), through its subsidiary PT Khatulistiwa Hidro Energi—the owner of PT Bias Petrasia Persada, which operates PLTM Cicatih—supports Indonesia’s national target of 23% renewable energy mix (EBT).

“With the January 2026 production record, PLTM Cicatih will strengthen its position as a key strategic asset in our renewable energy portfolio,” stated Sumarwoto. This success is also expected to boost subsidiary financial performance and build investor confidence in the company’s sustainable energy development commitments.

Future Outlook

Having achieved the highest monthly production record since COD, PLTM Cicatih management pledges to continue monitoring hydrology conditions, maintaining plant reliability, and optimizing operations to sustain this high performance in future periods. This milestone serves as a positive early indicator for the plant’s annual performance in 2026 while reinforcing its role in supporting national renewable energy targets.
