Tanggap Bencana, Kolaborasi IBP dan DLH Kaltim Salurkan Bantuan untuk Warga Desa Purwajaya

Loa Janan, Kutai Kartanegara — PT Insani Baraperkasa (IBP) reaffirmed its social commitment through a swift emergency response for residents affected by floods and landslides in Purwajaya Village, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, on Monday (May 12). The company distributed ready-to-eat meal boxes to impacted residents in collaboration with the East Kalimantan Provincial Environmental Agency (DLH Kaltim).

Although the disaster was not caused by the company’s operations, IBP felt compelled to assist the surrounding community as part of its responsibility as a corporate citizen. The company’s President Director, Dr. Ir. Agus Wiramsya Oscar, ST, MT, CPI, IPU, emphasized that this support is part of IBP’s ongoing Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) program, particularly during emergency situations.

“We hope this assistance can help ease the burden of those affected and lift their spirits to recover,” said Oscar, accompanied by External Manager Mohamad Nilzam.

The disaster was the result of hydrometeorological conditions—heavy and continuous rainfall. According to Anwar Sanusi, Head of DLH Kaltim, three landslide locations were identified, and cleanup efforts are still ongoing using heavy equipment. The most severe landslide occurred in Dusun Bedeng, cutting off access between Kutek Road and Loa Duri Village.

Meanwhile, the floodwaters—reaching adult knee height—submerged fishponds, causing significant losses to local catfish and gourami fish farmers.

“We estimate the total economic loss from the floods and landslides to be around IDR 500 million,” Anwar stated.

In addition to IBP and DLH Kaltim, the state electricity company PLN also stepped in to repair damaged power infrastructure. Anwar commended PT IBP’s swift response and urged other companies, such as Kutai Energi and ABK, to follow its example.

The assistance provided not only addressed immediate needs but also offered a morale boost to affected residents. PT IBP’s efforts reflect its values and strong commitment to the welfare of the surrounding communities.

“We sincerely hope this support gives our fellow citizens the strength to rise and resume their daily activities,” Oscar concluded.
